Sycamore Shelter in Lower Cascades Park! Look for the Firefly flag!

In 2007, a small group of Firefly fans got together for a pitch-in picnic and watched Firefly together. The following year it became an event for Firefly fun and a fundraiser for Middle Way House in Bloomington, flying for 18 years so far. We've had tons of fun, got awesome swag, and raised thousands for our charity! And we're still flying!!

This year, it's our 19th annual pitch-in picnic for Firefly watching. We've enjoyed fun and games each year, plus every year since 2008, we've raised donations with sales and auctions of swag to benefit Middle Way House. This year, it will be our 19th year of Firefly Watching. This year it will be on September 19th, 2026, which is 1 day before the 24th Anniversary of the Firefly debut on the Fox network on September 20th, 2002.

It's a pitch-in cookout with grilled burgers and hot dogs; please bring sides and such. We'll watch some Firefly on a big screen, with swag for sale and for auction, all donated by those attending. Cosplay is fine but not required.

This event takes the love of Firefly and the movie Serenity and transforms it into real, tangible support for victims of domestic abuse as a benefit for Middle Way House.
