HOW CAN YOU HELP
Nathan Fillion specifically asked for quantifiable metrics that could be shown to streaming platforms as a way to prove the widespread support and viewership that this project could garner. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU CAN DO IS TO FIND NATHAN’S ORIGINAL SOCIAL MEDIA ANNOUNCEMENT (pinned to the top of the “Once We Were Spacemen” podcast Instagram account) and interact with it - heart it, reshare/repost, comment, respond to other comments, send it to friends.
Once you’ve done that, consider posting about all things Firefly/Serenity/Browncoat on your own socials, using the tag #BringBackFirefly (capitalization matters!) And join the Firefly watch parties and discussions that are popping up everywhere (there’s a popular one on Reddit, and the Virtual Shindig hosts watch parties about once a month, often featuring special guests from the crew of Firefly.) These help keep Firefly trending on streaming services.
WHAT WE KNOW
Nathan Fillion announced at Awesome Con in March 2026 that an animated Firefly series is in development. Produced by his company, Collision 33, and 20th Television Animation, the show aims to bring back original cast members to voice the project. It is set to be showrun by Marc Guggenheim and Tara Butters, with animation by ShadowMachine. A pilot script has been written by the show runners, which is set to take place between the TV show and the film, meaning both Wash and Book will still be alive. We can presume a new actor will be hired to voice book, as Ron Glass passed away in 2016. The project is still in need of a streaming home.
